Is there any need for trust in a relationship? Can I be in a relationship where I am not trusted or where I don’t trust my partner?

What is the importance of trust in a relationship? I have never come across any long-lasting relationship that was built without trust.

Trust is more like the backbone of every relationship. Official relationships or unofficial relationships all work based on trust. Every relationship needs to be built on trust because where there’s no trust there may be dishonesty and betrayal.

If you always have the thought of being in a healthy relationship where there is no trust, it is impossible because every healthy relationship is nurtured with trust to make it healthy. Imagine a house without a solid foundation? It is bound to collapse in no distance time.

What Is Trust In A Relationship?

Trust is the faith you have in someone that they will always remain loyal to you and love you.

To trust someone means that you can rely on them and you are comfortable confiding in them because you feel safe with them.

There are people you meet and you find yourself telling them stuffs about yourself, telling them about your troubles and worries, or you will hear a guy or lady say that their partners can’t cheat on them not because that individual is a saint but because they rely on or have confidence in each other.

There is always that one trader, marketer, or shop that you always prefer to buy some particular goods from even though there are others that sell the same product not because that trader or shop is the best, but because you trust he/she or that shop.

That’s trust for you, it makes one loyal to you, you feel comfortable and can rely on or confide in them without fear.

What Is The Role Of Trust In A Relationship?

Trust plays a very vital role in a relationship. It is like a building and roofing. Can you build a house and then say the house is complete without roofing it? No matter how beautiful a building is, if it is not been roofed then it is useless because no one can stay in a house without a roof.

The rain, sun, and cold will have a field day on you as long as the house you are in, is not roofed.

We all need that one person that we can rely on and comfortably confide in without the fear of being betrayed, that one person that no matter what it is, will always be loyal to us.

Trust is what makes you say so about them because you have faith in that person.

2.  It Reduces Conflicts

In a relationship where there is no trust, love becomes like a battlefield.

Partners will read meanings into actions or words with the intent that their partner has a negative agenda against them.

3.  It Makes You Positive

Trust makes you look at things and situations from a brighter angle. You become more forgiving and sweet.

You find yourself making excuses for the behavior of each other knowing fully well that whatever hurt that may have arisen didn’t come intentionally because you know your partner has your best interest at heart.

Love And Trust In A Relationship

The relationship between trust and love is a close one. Trust means believing in yourself, your judgments, and believing in others too.

Trust is the foundation for any relationship because if you don’t have trust, it means you won’t feel secure that your partner will love you and be loyal to you.

If you are missing either of these, the relationship is pretty much destined to fail or at least be pretty miserable.

But is that true? Can your relationship succeed with only one? The goal is to be in a relationship where you don’t have to choose, but hypothetically, if you had to pick one, is trust more important than love in a relationship? Or is love the one you can’t do without?

Love and trust work hand in hand with each other, where there’s genuine love there must be trust and where there’s trust, there must be love.

Going deeper, let’s consider this together. You fall in love, Over time, the fluttering of butterflies in your belly reduces or even stops completely. You are not out of love but facing reality.

When trust is broken, it is almost impossible to go back to the way things were without the doubt and the fear of trust being

broken again. A relationship that thrives on a lack of trust will infuse uncertainties and insecurities in the relationship, either causing both partners to hate one another or the overall relationship to self-destruct.
